Code of Ethics

Work Ethics

  • Work is a privilege and created by God in Heaven. (Gen. 2:15)
  • We must work very quickly and efficiently, making maximum use of all resources such as money, materials, and time. God judges & rewards us for all the work we do. (1 Cor. 3:9-15)
  • Work in a spirit of respect and humility. (Eph. 6:5-9)

1Co 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Col 1:10  that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Chain of Command

We know in God’s kingdom we are all created equal in Christ, but we understand God’s kingdom is one of order and authority. We love to work and we have a servant attitude especially towards Christ and all He places in authority above and around us. We are loyal to the 1GDA team and we all take responsibility to build a spirit of joy and unity in 1GDA. We are quick to listen to and obey our superiors. We hate gossip and division and fight against any attitude that could threaten our positive team spirit. When we encounter challenges or areas we disagree on we don’t complain to workers around or beneath us. Instead, go to the Lord first and then to our superiors if we need further clarification. When we join 1GDA we understand that for the purpose of unity we submit our personal ideas and opinions to the vision and goals of 1GDA.

We are our brother’s keeper. We are all responsible for building an atmosphere of love, harmony, excellence and empowerment throughout the 1GDA team. It is not just important what we do, but also “how” we do things (1 Cor. 13: 1-8). Always be quick to respond to each other in our communications and make a point of encouraging each other so we will all achieve our greatest for Christ (Eph 4:15,16).

Also remember you are a representative of 1GDA and the Kingdom of God. As such we must walk with integrity, dignity and honor among everyone we come into contact with showing the spirit of excellence and love in all our interactions with society (1 Tim. 4:12).

All of us will be responsible for finances and resources within 1GDA and needless to say how we handle that responsibility is crucial to the success of our mission. First point to remember is that this money and resources used in 1GDA does not belong to us, but to the Lord. That means that to misappropriate or lose funds is to steal from the Lord and this is a serious issue. Let us look at 2 scripture passages, 1 from the Old Testament and 1 from the New Testament…

  1. Designated Funds; Joshua 7 (story of Achan)
  2. Lying about finances; Acts 5:1-11 (Ananias & Sapphira)

So, when we correctly understand God’s heart towards the use of His resources, we realize we must be very honest and transparent in all financial matters. We must be utterly honest in handling all money, filling out forms, records, receipts, and accounts. To keep ourselves and the 1GDA mission pure & free from all corruption should be a major goal of all 1GDA workers. We must earnestly covet the blessing of God upon all our work and lives. Also, it is good to understand that when we wisely and honestly use God’s resources, then we qualify ourselves for promotion within God’s kingdom.

Conflict Resolution

As members of 1GDA we must sincerely desire good working relationships and to strive for peace at all times.

Eph 4:3 Do your best to maintain the unity of the Spirit by means of the bond of peace.

Col 3:12  Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13  bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14  And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Our first course of action when facing a disagreement is to take it to the Lord in prayer. Pray for the people involved and ask God for wisdom to overcome. Often the Holy Spirit will give insight that helps you understand the situation better. Sometimes He releases His love and grace to forgive the people involved. If prayer has failed to resolve the issue then we should take the steps outlined in Matt. 18:15-17

  1. Speak to the person(s) directly. Do not go with the spirit of accusation but in the spirit of Love and humility speak to the person something like this, “ I need you to help me with something, its probably a misunderstanding but….”. A humble approach like this helps to maintain a positive relationship and often resolves the issue without hurting each other. (Also John Maxwell “Conflict Sandwich”)
  2. Use a Mediator to assist. If speaking to them personally fails to resolve the issue then it can be good to involve a Leader from the 1GDA team to speak with all parties involved to try and resolve the issues.
  3. Report the Situation to 1GDA leadership. If all other efforts fail to resolve the issue then the 1GDA leadership will have to make the best Decision that will protect the Unity of 1GDA and the success of our mission.

NOTE: If you are involved in any conflict we don’t want you to feel attacked, judged or discouraged. You are an important member of the 1GDA team and we want you to know that we love you and we are praying for the best resolutions to any conflicts so that the spirit of unity and power will be maintained in the 1GDA mission.

Doctrinal Differences

With the vision of 1GDA we have the privilege of working with nearly all sectors of the body of Christ and its imperative that we build a spirit of unity throughout our ministry and throughout the continent of Africa.  We have a basic statement of Faith that all 1GDA partners should agree with.  Apart from that, we do not focus on 1 church or doctrine or ministry, not even the 1GDA ministry but instead we focus on Jesus and the Gospel of his death and resurrection which all members of the body can utterly agree upon.  We must avoid discussing different beliefs, practices and especially gossip about various ministers & ministries. Instead we create a great spirit of forward momentum by continually focusing on Jesus and the great work He has called us to do together. When we are able to keep our movement pure and of one heart and mind with Christ we become an unstoppable force for Jesus!

(Ps 133, Acts 4:32.33, 2 Tim. 2:23)

Working with the National Organizing Committee & International Partners

In the preparation work for your nations many of you will be required to work with both National Committees & International Partners.  Part of your responsibility is to make clear the 1GDA Objectives to them and to work together with them in a spirit of faith & unity to achieve these Objectives. Remember you are representing 1GDA and your main responsibility is to insure the success of the vision as guided by the 1GDA principles & objectives. This will require skill and sensitivity in dealing with people of different cultures and expectations but know that we will be guiding you and praying for you in this great endeavor.
